A Cemetery
Preservation indoor workshop
will be held Saturday February 16th, 2013, at the Donald W. Reynolds Library
serving Baxter County.
This indoor informational workshop on cemetery
preservation issues will be presented by Special Projects Historian, Holly Hope
& Brian Driscoll from the Arkansas Cemetery Historic Preservation Program. This workshop includes information on the
significance of and threats to historic cemeteries. Also included are tips on documenting cemetery
history, organizing your preservation efforts including proper tools and
techniques, and generating funds for preservation projects. If you are on a cemetery board,
involved in cemetery work, or interested in starting a new hobby, this workshop is for you.
The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program has a great PDF manual called, Grave Concerns: A Preservation Manual For Historic Cemeteries in Arkansas for free download. This 155 page manual is not just useful in Arkansas, but it covers pertinent information that can be used anywhere.

Chapter 2: Conducting a Survey
Chapter 3: Research and Documentation
Chapter 4: Cleaning Basics
Chapter 5: Funding
Chapter 6: Awareness
