Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier

 

On Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m., we had a wonderful opportunity to learn about the "Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier." The meeting was held in conjunction with the exhibit "Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier" from the Arkansas State Archives. The exhibit is currently displayed at the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County in Mountain Home Arkansas until November 5th.

Our guest scholars for the event are Dr. David Ware & Dr. S. Charles Bolton.

Dr. David Ware, is the current Director of the Arkansas State Archives. Previously, Dr. Ware served as the historian at the State Capitol for 19 years in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dr. S. Charles Bolton, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Dr. Bolton is the author of several books including:

Territorial Ambition: Land and Society in Arkansas, 1800-1840

Arkansas, 1800-1860: Remote and Restless

Fugitivism: Escaping Slavery in the Lower Mississippi Valley, 1820-1860

While I am admitting people into the lecture, Dr. Bolton & Dr. Ware are sharing insights.
